Cornerstone was created from a simple belief: everyone deserves a place where they feel safe and welcome. We’re run by Essex Recovery Foundation, a local charity working to build a strong, visible recovery community across Essex.

For many people in recovery, everyday social spaces can feel challenging or exclusionary. Sober spaces matter because they offer connection, comfort and community without the pressure of substances.

Cornerstone is a café for everyone. Whether you’re in recovery, supporting someone you love, curious to learn more, or simply looking for a friendly place for a coffee, you’re welcome here. By sharing this space, we aim to reduce stigma and bring people together.

Alongside great coffee, we host events, creative workshops and conversation groups that encourage connection, hope and joy, because recovery isn’t just possible, it can be full of life.
